John Halamka, who serves as the chief information officer both at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and Harvard Medical School, announced that he will be moving on from the latter post as soon as the school can find a replacement. Halamka, whose CIO position with HMS is only part time, wrote that the school requires a “full time, dedicated CIO with a skill set in highly scalable infrastructure and the tools needed to support emerging science,” in a post on his “Life as a Healthcare CIO” blog late last week. Additionally, Halamka plans on tackling more issues with regard to Meaningful Use, healthcare reform and health information exchange both at BIDMC and nationally.
